Here is where we start...

And this is what we aim for

About Us

ELEANOR UNGER, the Director of the Scottish Dance Theatre, is one of a few Scottish Official Board Adjudicators of Highland Dance in the United States and is certified to judge throughout the world.  She trains her own teachers who are in turn certified by the British Association of Teachers of Dancing.  Most of her teachers started as young children and have spread their talents throughout the country.

The award winning group is a locally based company of competitive Highland Dancers.  The company has performed its spirited repertoire of traditional dances at many major outdoor festivals.  Individual members from Beginners to Champion Class dancers have competed successfully at Highland Games throughout the country and have won many awards in its choreographed events.  The Dance Theatre has completed eleven seasons with the Virginia International Tattoo, of which Eleanor Unger is the Dance Director and Choreographer.  In this event the company performs with other Highland Dance groups from around the world.  The Company members form life long friendships and become a close knit group over years of association learning team effort and leadership skills as they progress through the ranks.

The Dance School trains children as young as five years old for performance and competition at Scottish festivals.  The parents of Highland dancers are second to none and always willing to assist new parents and their children and when the time comes for performance and competition.  The school now also offers classes in Scottish Country (Ceilidh Dancing) for families or for those looking for a slightly less energetic form of activity. This is a delightfully social form of dance and an excellent fitness program.

Small groups of dancers are available for performances at churches, weddings and family events.  The Director has also taken groups to schools for Lecture/Demonstrations or to be part of  Multicultural Day Events.  She may be contacted at (757) 481-2165 for further information.
